Taking a look beyond the hype

It's hard not to bite on the hype surrounding a new technology. When I see the latest and greatest I always have to restrain my optimism a bit: Google testing self-driving cars doesn't mean I can buy one next week, flexible screens probably won't be in the iPhone 6, and big data software won't do my entire taxes for me come April. It was the same when I first discovered 3D Printing, I believed that we'd be printing everything on our own machines within a couple years. Sadly that doesn't seem to be the case.

3D Printing is a wonderful technology, opening up possibilities that we haven't seen yet. But it's not the silver bullet. It will take a long time for this technology to mature into a Jetsons-like wonder, and while it does, we will have to work with what we have. Thankfully, what we have is pretty cool! While it may not work correctly the first time, every time, and we're not printing iPhones in a matter of minutes, we will work with you to get the result you want, and help you utilize your creativity to make your ideas a reality. It's a lot of hard, fun work, and yes, a little science fiction too.
